THIRTY

How many songs can you think of that has the word thirty (30) in them? I thought and I thought and came up with zilch. There is the "Thirty Year War", "Thirty Year Itch", "Life Begins At Thirty". There is also the 33 1/3 LP/Vinyl.

Wait a second.............I'm wrong!! Though there was no song that popped into my head about thirty I "googled" and found, "My Next Thirty Years" by Tim McGraw.

So why I am obsessed with the number 30? Today I complete my 30th year of teaching, a milestone in my life. I've taught for 30 years in 9 different schools. A lot of schools for sure. I've been at my present school for six years now and God willing and the creek don't rise, I will be here when I retire, eight years from now.

Seems like a long time to go, but I know it will go fast. The kids keep me young, no doubt about that and I think the kids think of me more of a Grampa than a teacher and I guess that's okay just as long as they don't start calling me Gramps.

I guess out of all the "Thirty" sayings I dug up I guess I best identify with "Teaching Begins After Thirty".

HAPPY FATHERS DAY

Happy Fathers Day to all of the fathers reading this today. I hope your day is a good one and that you enjoy your day.
I feel blessed to be a father, I have two biological sons and four step-children (2 sons & 2 daughters). All have grown to adulthood except our 14 soon to be 15year old who looks like he's 18.
I have two great sons who are also fathers, Paul has a son, Jonathan and Brian has a son and two daughters, Mark, Sabrina and Annebelle respectively. They are two great families and a proud addition to the family tree.
My step-children have yet to bless us with grandchildren though I'm sure the time is not too far off. Debbie's oldest daughter will marry this September and Katy will soon finish grad-school and she and husband Doug will start focusing on starting a family in the near future.
This is a great day for all you Fathers of the world. Enjoy.

THE END IS NEAR

No No, You got it wrong.................the end of the school year is near. Seven days left for me, well actually six as I've been summoned for Jury Duty. So now my little brain is trying to think all the different ways I can get out be selected. Yes, I know it's my civic duty and all that but you gotta realize I just did 10 months of teaching. I'm ready for a rest and not listening to someone trying to beat a wrap or suing someone or whatever. I'm not in the mood.
Maybe if I just come out and say "Hang The Bastard" or the "Plaintiff wins", award the 10 million $ for that bite you got while eating popcorn in the theatre and you thought your finger was a kernel of popcorn. Hey, I'm all for better lights in a theatre, but that's another story another time.
Hey I even considered feigning hard of hearing. Eh? Whazzat? Scratch whose ass? Not mine........
Ah yes I can go on but I won't I think you get the jest of it all. I wanna go on vacation, sleep in, watch TV, listen to music and of course visit my blog a little more often than I have been doing.
