LOST IN CONNECTICUT
Yep, you read that right. I got lost in Conneticut. And you laugh. It's very easy, especially when you don't know where you are going. I've only lived in CT for seven years now and I really don't know my way around like I should, but then I've talked to people that have lived here all their lives and if I ask them how to get to a certain place in CT and it is outside of their normal travelled routes, they haven't a clue either. So I feel a little better.
The fact that I got lost was that I came home via a different route as I had a meeting to attend on the otherside of town. Now the other side of town is not the bad side of town or anything like that. I just don't go over there. I live 25 miles away in another town on the opposite side of where I was going, so as much as I do is go to work and come home.
So what it boils down to is I missed my exit. So I figured I would hook up later on down the road with the main road I wanted. I drove and drove and no sight of I84 anywhere, but I did see a lot of other "main" roads that I didn't have a clue as to where they would lead me, so I back track. All the way back into town until I finally know where I am. Whew, that was close.
I've gotten better about being lost nowadays. When i first moved out here I would go into shear panic, now i just go along for the ride and if it doesn't work out like I wanted and back track like what I did here.
Connecticut may be a small state but I swear there isn't one road in the state that is straight. They all have curves or hills every 100 feet or so unless you are on an Interstate. So it is very easy to get your directions confused and because of all the trees you don't see an horizon so you are totally screwed.
Hey! I made it home and that's what counts. Tomorrow I take the regular way home. I think I'll stop and kiss every stop sign on the way back.
