MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

I guess a lot of people refer to this weekend as the start of summer. Not me, though I do some summerish things, like mow the lawn, BBQ, even eat outside if it's warm enough. We'll go to some tag sales and plant our flowers, but actually it's a long weekend and it will be nice not to have to face Monday until Tuesday.
Memorial Day is one of those holidays that are meant to not be celebrated but to be observed. To give thanks and remember those brave people that have given up their lives so that we as Americans can live in the freedom we have become accustomed to. Without their sacrifice we wouldn't be here today and yet we still have our soldiers putting their lives on the line for our freedom with hopes they won't become one of those we remember on Memorial Day.
So maybe Memorial is a day off from work for you. Please take a moment to offer a prayer or even a thought of thanks to the brave men and women who have given their lives so that you may enjoy this day off.
