GONE, GONE, GONE, HOME

It's been awhile since I've been able to post but not through any fault of mine. I've been gone. 1300 miles gone and I drove every mile of it. We left last Saturday and returned last night.
Where did I go you ask? Williamsburg, VA was the main mission where I met my oldest brother and his wife whom I haven't seen in over 6 years and whom my lovely wife, Divadeb has never met. Needless to say we did have a great time visiting. They are great people to know and I'm not saying that because he's my brother.

On the way down I got a taste of DC traffic and decided not to take this route back as we came down on a Sunday and it was bumper to bumper traffic. I hate to envision what rush hour on the weekdays are. So we took an alternate route and went way way way around DC, in fact we headed west to the mountains and took a scenic drive along the Shenadoah National Park. A 80 mile drive up in the mountains at sometime over 3500 feet above sea level. Some grand views we had by all. The 80 mile trip took a good 4 hours. No traffic to deal with here except for the occassional deer. Nice.

Didn't really hit heavy traffic until we hit CT and it was right there, just as we passed the border it was traffic. Like saying, "Welcome To CT". That didn't bother me cause then I knew I was only about 30 minutes from home. Of course this was during the dreaded "Rush Hour" and I'm not talking about the movies either.

All in all it was a nice trip be it a long trip miles wise but a nice trip. Visited some nice Rest Stops along the way also and found that 99.9% of the drivers we encountered were courteous. I didn't see anyone "flipping me off" or horns being honked at me. ....My car deserves a nice rest.

Today it's back to the routine whatever that is as I've only been home one day since school dismissed for the summer. I'm sure the daily post will become a part of that routine.
